A Food Blog with Creatively Simple Recipes

I'm a busy mom who loves food. And I vaguely remember what it was like to make complex and delicious meals. I've been cooking nearly every day for over twenty years (it's in the genes—my mom is a thoughtful and creative home cook). If I can't cook as many gourmet meals as I'd like anymore, I can enjoy gourmet food products and special ingredients, like fine cheeses, unusual salts, fresh herbs, and pate—traditional and vegan.

Ubiquitous Kale Salad is a food blog and an effort to win back one of my great loves: enjoying food products and finding creatively simple ways to use them with simple recipes that take thirty minutes or less to make. Easy recipes don’t have to be boring recipes.

Well-plated food is art.

Food doesn't have to be drab or dreary. Taking a few minutes to add color, like sprinkling fresh herbs on top of canned chili or drizzling honey over an apple, can brighten your day and your palette. This blog is just as much about food pictures as it is about the food recommendations. I'm a (very) amateur photographer and all of the pictures you see are mine.

Simple food is beautiful food.

This picture is me at 20 weeks pregnant, on vacation and happy knowing I'm about to eat a gigantic chocolate orange soufflé. A dessert that seems simple to make on paper but easy to screw up in real life.

I'll leave the soufflés to the professionals.
